With the LightPlus modular system you can build your tailor-made suspension choosing glasses, frames and number of drops. Below is a simple (but comprehensive) guide to understanding how it works and getting the purchase right the first time.
What is a modular suspension
It is a modular system consisting of:
- Glasses / diffusers (the “forms” of light);
- Mounting (the ceiling base: round, linear, bar or multiple) with the relevant cables;
- Light source (bulb or integrated LED, depending on the glass chosen).
The idea is: choose the glass, choose the frame, adjust the heights... and you're done.
(This is the logic also summarised in the image above: 1) glass(es), 2) frame → composition ready).
How it works - in 2 steps
1) Choose the glass
- Look at the forms (drop, sphere, cone, oval, etc.).
- Evaluate the finishes (transparent, smoked, amber, opaline...) and how they diffuse light.
- Check lamp coupling (E27, G9 or integrated LED) and maximum power recommended.
- Order 1, 3, 5 or more pieces based on how many falls you will use on the mount.
Tip: for “warmer” and cosier light choose 2700K; for kitchens and work 3000K-4000K. If you want to dim, check that bulb and dimmer are compatible.
2) Choose the mounting (the ceiling base)
- Form: round (cluster), linear for tables/peninsulas, bar o multiple plate.
- Number of outputs: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9... depending on how much glass you want to fit.
- Metal finish: black, white, brass, chrome... match your furniture or glass.
- Adjustable cables: each fall is adjusted in height; you decide the composition (stepped, symmetrical, clustered...).
Once the components are received, slip each glass into its holder, adjust the cable heights and close the rosette/plate: your suspension is ready.
How to choose the number of falls (rule of thumb)
- Coffee table / bedside table: 1 light.
- Small peninsula (80-120 cm): 2-3 lights in line.
- Table 140-180 cm: 3 well-spaced lights or 5 lights on a linear plate.
- Island 200-260 cm: 4-6 lights in line, or 3 “important” bodies.
- Stairwell/high entrance: round cluster from 5-9 lights with staggered heights.
Floor clearance: 70-90 cm over tables/peninsulas. On walkways or open areas maintain at least 210-220 cm from the floor to the lowest element.
Technical details to consider
- Socket and bulbs: check the connection (E27/G9) of the chosen glass. Prefer LEDs for efficiency and durability.
- Dimmer: if you want to adjust the light, use dimmable LED bulbs and a dimmer compatible (leading/trailing edge second bulb).
- Weight & capacity: in the case of multiple clusters, ensure that the dowel/anchorage is adequate for the total weight (plasterboard ceiling ⇒ uses specific supports).
- Cable heights: cables are adjustable; if you need a special length, contact us before ordering.
- IP and special environments: for bathrooms or wet areas check the’protection index required by local regulations.
Examples of composition
- Minimal 1 light: a single glass over a bedside table or a small round table.
- Three in a row: 3 matching glasses (or matching mix) on linear plate for a 160 cm table.
- Scenic cluster: Ø40-60 cm round base with 5-9 drops at different heights in double-height entry.
- Kitchen bar: long bar with 4-5 falls above island; uniform, contemporary light.
Recommended ordering procedure
- Add glasses to cart (choose quantity and finish).
- Add the frame (shape, finish, number of exits).
- Add LED bulbs suitable (colour temperature and dimmability).
- In assembly adjust cables to the desired height.
